SIEGE - my college project

Posted by BoMbLu - April 16th, 2010

I've been working on my school project for around a month now and it's due for the end of July. This time round I'm working on something with a much more serious tone and am using my countries' history as the basis - The Great Siege of Malta- which is possibly the best bad-ass battle after the Crusades :P Rather than simply re-narrating, I'm going to focus on the Turkish arrival and their assault on the two cities, yet giving them a slight fantasy twist.

I'll be posting the project here once it'd be moderated by my tutors etc, but I'll try post some image updates or wip animations once in a while.

Anyway, back to drawing knights - need to finish this monster before the deadline D:

(BELOW : Scene from Birgu, one of the cities. I mainly tested out 'overlaying' a neat texture over the whole composition and I'll be using this 'filter' throughout the animation to give it that old-ish feel)

love the texture and cut-paper look to this! i'm glad you're going to show us more : )

Thanks :) I'll be posting more soon ;p

I've always been curious. Why do people use a texture for an entire screen?
I thought it would be more effective and less gimmicky if you just used it for specific objects rather than the whole screen.

I only recently started using textures for flash and, i must say, i think they look pretty decent when done right. For instance, in this project, the whole animation looks slightly bland when i remove the overlay parchment textrue - it may be personal preference. However, thanks for the suggestion and i'll try and add a texture to one thing only as a test :)

Smiley Cat is epic.

Why thank you :D
