BoMbLu's News

A few weeks ago i started working on some artwork for a Christmas Themed Game yet the programmer got busy with some other projects and i thought i might post the current artwork and animation here with the hope to find a coder to build the small Christmas brawler game.

For now, the idea is pretty simple - Santa's pissed off at the cheap-laboured-asian-robots who keep taking the higher share of sales during the Christmas period, and goes to the east to beat up some robotic asian ass.

Anyone interested? ;p

Phew, this took quite a while to complete :P

So, after about 8 weeks of working on sketches, research and animation, I finally managed to finish off my 1st College animation project - and the deadline's in a week :D

I'd like to, once again, say thanks to ThatComposerGuy who composed the score for this animation, the animation feels more authentic and the music fits the theme and period much more ;p

I'd also like to thank JohnnyUtah, Chluaid, LeafWorthy and JamesLee03 for filling in a short interview (which i'll be uploading soon ;p) as all their work helped me increase the quality of my project :) Thanks a lot guys!

Finally, any reviews, comments, etc are greatly appreciated as i might use them for the evaluation section of my project :)

Next... RobotDay? :P

SIEGE (College Project) is finally here!

Well, it's been quite a busy month and I'm still working on my college animation. At this moment it is a bit more than 1/2 done (I want to cram in as much detail [silhouetted characters, smoke, blood possibly] as possible in the scenes later on). In the meantime I worked on a series of storyboards which were obligatory for making an animation, sketchbook which still needs some polishing up and a reflective journal (wring our thoughts, ATM - if I were to be completely honest I'd just be drawing blank faces ._. on white pages as I've got too much stuff to finish off :P)

However, the plus side. It's the 1st time I'm free to make an animation for a final project, I'm quite pleased with the current result in relation to the amount of hours worked, and that a good 1/2 of the artists I contacted till now here on NG gladly helped me out by filling out a mini interview - if you're reading this, I'd like to say Thanks once again :D

I'll be having a tailor-made soundtrack which should be awesome! Project's due for the 4th of June so i'll post it here on NG sometime round the 10th (i might be adding the flash menu and extra flash stuff later on - still don't know in what format i'll present this little monster over here) ;P

And now, another small sneak preview - the title screen :P

SIEGE - 1/2 way there!

I've been working on my school project for around a month now and it's due for the end of July. This time round I'm working on something with a much more serious tone and am using my countries' history as the basis - The Great Siege of Malta- which is possibly the best bad-ass battle after the Crusades :P Rather than simply re-narrating, I'm going to focus on the Turkish arrival and their assault on the two cities, yet giving them a slight fantasy twist.

I'll be posting the project here once it'd be moderated by my tutors etc, but I'll try post some image updates or wip animations once in a while.

Anyway, back to drawing knights - need to finish this monster before the deadline D:

(BELOW : Scene from Birgu, one of the cities. I mainly tested out 'overlaying' a neat texture over the whole composition and I'll be using this 'filter' throughout the animation to give it that old-ish feel)

Also, a Warhammer Fantasy collab is in the works - deadline's April 1st so if anyone's interested in any form of fantasy or what no animation stuff, jump in (over here and over here... this works as well if you want to try it out)

ForbidMetal's original post which never got to see the light of day:
Hey,

I'm co-leader of a collaberation and we're in the final stages of compiling and releasing said collaberation. As the title suggests we are having trouble with syncing the flash.
Here is a trailer if anyone is interested.

The 40K Collab Trailer

Anyway.
The syncing is fine for a bit, but the further through it goes, the more out of sync the animations become.

Here's some things you may need to know:
-Flash CS3 is what we are using.
-The sounds are on 'Stream'
-I'm exporting MP3, 160kbps, Stereo (have also tried mono and every other type of kbps)
-export settings are on 'Fast' (have also tried 'best')

I'm not sure if it only happens on certain scenes, but it is definetly more noticeable on different scenes.

Does anyone know how to export audio from a specific scene of a file? I know you can export audio from the WHOLE file, but what about just one scene?
Does anyone know anyway to fix the syncing issues?

Any help would be extremely appriecated, thanks a lot.

ForbidMetal.

/UPDATE/ I also tried putting in a lopping blank sound file to the whole collab, however, all it did was play the first few scene's audio than stop playing sound completely

Once upon a time, i tested this thing to check the front page enableing option.

This is the historic post.

Well, as the title says.

We've been working on a Warhammer 40K collab for over a year now - and with all the animations ready - we began to compile them into one FLA. However, we're encountering problems such as flash freezing after adding the 9th animation (out of 23) or the actionscrypt/timeline/audio going completely off sync.

Another problem occured when, in one attempt to re-build the collab, movieclips began to constantly flash (Strobe-like), or movieclips/graphics disappear.

On behalf of the animators, If you guys could post on some tips to help us out, it'd be greatly appreciated :)
